April Shenanigans

Wow - so I just visited my blog to catch up on the blogs I stalk read, and I realized it's been over three MONTHS since I last updated! That's just ridiculous. I'm sorry blogosphere. No excuses.

So the only way I know how to catch up is to have a post for each month I'm behind. So, April was filled with all sorts of fun and exciting things. My friend from high school came to visit, and we took our first plane ride with Conner to Florida to spend some time with Jason's family. We also took a trip to Texarkana to help our friend Chris do some work at his mom's house and at the end of the month, Conner turned 4 months, old! There are a lot of details in there that I'm skipping over, but I'll include some of those with the pictures, because no post would be complete without pictures of the munchkin!

Big boy is getting good at tummy time!

My, what strong neck muscles you have!

I frequently will reach back when I'm at a stop light and snap a pic of Conner so I can see if he's asleep or not. I have dozens of pictures like this on my phone. He's just such a cutie!

You lookin' at me?!

One of my favorite pics of the Bear.

Me and Conner talking. He's a great conversationalist. ;)

My handsome boy.

This is a rare occurance these days ... soaking it up!

Tayler came to visit! It was so awesome to have my oldest friend fly here from CA to meet my sweet baby. We took her out to eat some Texas BBQ, and really just chilled out. We had a great time and I can't believe how fast it flew by!

Conner's first Easter! MiMi got Conner an Easter basket with toys, a cute outfit, and a book. She definitely did so good. Mommy, however, didn't do anything for Easter...

Sweet moment with Conner and MiMi.

Mommy didn't even get a picture of her sweet family looking halfway decent on EASTER SUNDAY! Jason and I had changed clothes and put on our glasses by the time we thought about taking a pic. Talk about EPIC PARENTING FAIL.

What up, Home Slice?

Uncle Justin and Aunt Courtney playing with Conner one morning on our trip.

Courtney played Pat-a-Cake and tickled Conner's belly. He had a good time with her, for sure!

Are you my daddy? You sure do look like my daddy ... Conner hopefully some day you'll get the Smith nose, too.

Justin and my niece, Kylee. She was ADORABLE!! I had fun playing and spending time with her!

How cute is this?!

At the condo we stayed at in St. Augustine. Yo dawg, I heard you like TVs.

And lighthouses...........

Christmas card 2012?

Thanks, Kylee, for letting me borrow your towel! :)

Mommy ... I have to burp!

Getting so big!

Sweet smiles from my baby!

Sunshine at lunch with Kylee!

Playing with his toys :)

FEET!!

Cuddle time with Mommy!

Bath time with MiMi!

Jason and Chris working in the yard in Texarkana. Hard working boys!

Kylee cuddles with Conner~bear!

Conner was a little fussy and clingy in Texarkana, and I guessed he was teething. About a week and a half later (at 4.5 months old) he got his bottom 2 teeth!

Conner's first state line!

Jason is SUCH an amazing dad to Conner. He loves playing with him. They have such fun together. :)

The day Conner got his 4-month shots, I forgot to give him Tylenol before his appointment. That is the first and last time I make that mistake. He was so upset. I called my mom for backup because I was about to lose it. She came right over and helped me try to calm him down. We called the on-call nurse at my pediatrician's office and she recommended a warm bath. It. Worked. WONDERS. That has become my go-to when he inconsolable. Poor, poor baby.

March Madness...

And I'm not going to talk about college basketball. ;)

This was on our way to visit Daddy for lunch one day. It's become one of our favorite things to do during the week. Jason has been working at least 55 hours every week since the end of January. It has been the hardest thing. We can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel ... March 31. Woo hoo!

Cuddle time, with my cuddle bug.

I get bored sometimes ... so I take pictures ... of myself. I need to get a hobby...

Trimming babies fingernails is SO HARD!!! It's so much easier when they are sleeping. ;)

My snack for my drive out to Denton to visit Uncle Brady! Have y'all tried the new sweet potato tots at Sonic?? Ummmm... YUM.

Uncle Brady helping Conner practice his guitar strumming. With all the musical talent in his family, Conner is going to know lots about guitars. Maybe he'll even play! :)

My happy baby playing with his toys.

Tummy time! His neck is super strong ... his arms, not so much. Hopefully the more we do tummy time, the stronger he'll get. Also, please note the old man mullet he's rocking right now. SO cute, I know. If I thought I could do it without stabbing him with scissors, I'd totally trim that mullet right off. I think it's slowly falling out anyways. Can't wait for him to get his first haircut! Love little boy haircuts - makes them look so handsome!!

Chewing on his hands on our way to lunch with Daddy!

Check out those pants!! And I think he's doing some sort of dance from the 90s. ;)

My sweet boys napping. LOVE this. :)

This was one of the coolest moments ever. Both MiMi and PawPaw were having some good times with Conner ... and he was loving it. He was all smiles.

MiMi talking to Conner. He talks so much with her. It's the cutest thing ever.

Conner likes laughing with Uncle Brady. He's so funny. :)

Twinkies on a Sunday morning - Conner's first time at church!

Family photo!
Kylee talking with Conner. He loves smiling at her. :)

Lunch with Daddy at work. He was having a rough time, and Jason cuddled him to sleep. It was so sweet.

Sleeping like his daddy.

Momma got a haircut!

Smiling, happy baby! Loves his elephant.

Look at those fingers!

Chewing on his hand again and being a little flirt.

My little bubble machine.

I'm bringing back the feathered bangs look ... NOT. Got a Brazilian Blowout ... this was just part of the process. I had bought a Groupon for it a year ago and redeemed it last week. It has really helped my hair dry quicker and smoother.

And this is what happens when the straightener gets involved.

The stylist made the comment that 1) I have enough hair that I should have to pay double (joking) because he had to use double the products, and 2) that my hair is super porous ... hence the double blow dryers. ;)

Sweet smiles.

Who says Jason is the only one that can use his head lamp?? I took our shredder completely apart and used a screwdriver and needle-nose pliers to un-jam it. I felt like a freakin' rockstar. And of course I texted this photo to Jason so he could see how cool I looked.

Chris and Kylee got tickets to the Mavs game in a suite and invited Jason and I to come. It was so fun! She and I were really hoping to see Khloe Kardashian ... but the closest we got was watching Lamar Odom play for about 5 minutes. It was a great game, the Mavs won, and we had a great time eating nachos and pretzels.

Our view from the suite.

Me and Jason. It was fun to get out of the house and have some time as a couple and not just as parents. MiMi and PawPaw babysat, so that was great. I bought the shirts at Dick's Sporting Goods, and they are that super soft material. New favorite shirt? YES!

Cutie patootie in the onsie Grandma SuSu got him. Love it!

This makes my heart smile. Sweet, sweet Conner-bear!

This is what the little man looks like 90% of the time after I'm done feeding him. In one word? Content.

Conner totally gave himself a hickey! He was sucking so hard on his arm and loving it ... but I was sure he'd get a hickey so I made sure to pay attention later. Sure enough, Momma knows best.

Me and my sweet bear.

Me and Conner chilling in the recliner. He looks huge here. He's just so long and lean!

So, here we are so close to the end of March and Conner will be 3 months old. I cannot believe how much time is flying by. It's just crazy!

2 month stats...

February 28, Conner was 2 months old and had a very eventful doctor's appointment. At 2 months babies get the first round of vaccines, which is what I'd been waiting for before taking Conner out in public. I'm sure that my carefulness can be attributed to many things, but mostly the fact that it's cold/flu season, and he's my first born. I hear you get a lot less strict about stuff the more kids you have. We shall see.

So first we got to find out his stats, which is always the most interesting thing for me. I'm always so curious how many more inches he's grown and how many pounds he's gained.

Weight: 12 lb, 8 oz (65%)
Height: 24 3/4" (93%)
Head Circ: 16" (62%)

He was being such a fun baby while we waited to see the doc. He was smiling and being super interactive. He even sucked on his hands and arms for a bit. It was super cute.

So then he got his shots, and he did so good! He cried a bit, and I won't lie ... seeing him cry made me tear up a little. It was great to be able to comfort him when was hurting. He calmed down pretty quickly and was back to his happy smiling self in no time! Love my sweet baby boy. :)
